Experimental makeup in an unconventional red and green color scheme for me.
The holiday is coming to us! Yoohoo!
For me, winter means New Year’s Eve, holidays, decorations, Christmas trees, garlands, everything glowing and shiny, not just cold snowy landscapes. All these images give me happiness and joy, so it is impossible not to be inspired by them but to do my makeup in such a palette. It is not easy for me.
As you might have noticed, I only sometimes use the red palette, and here I decided to do it together with green.
Let’s see what came out of it!
What do I use?
- My foundation (Even Better Clinique) and concealer (The Eraser Maybelline);
- Eyebrow pomade (I just have Maybelline Color Tattoo Permanent Taupe);
- 4 shades of red eye shadows – 2 deep red matte ones from OFRA Bright Addiction palette, one maroon; Carino from Kat Von D Lolita Por Vida palette, one red with Rosario shimmer;
- Green and Gold pigments;
- 2 Highlighters from Sleek Precious Metals – Royal Gold, Renaissance Gold;
- Green eyeliner pencil (UD Glide On – Mars) and eyeliner (Kiko Super Color);
- YSL black and green mascara (Paradise Extatic);
- Correction rouge (Mac Harmony);
- Kiko Magical Holiday Wow Lipstick.
I apply a little bit of color and tint my eyebrows with Maybelline Color Tattoo Permanent Taupe.
I put a concealer/eye shadow base all over the eyelid. I start from the outer corner and use a flat brush to trace the corner in the darkest shade. Here is the dark burgundy from Lolita and the red from OFRA.
I start blurring to the protruding bone. I add a second red shade. The brush is fluffier.
From the inner corner, I am using the green pigment (with a new clean brush), trying not to mix it with the red one, so as not to get muddy.
The transition is made out of gold pigment.
I repeat the same on the lower eyelid. I then apply a second coat to smooth out the tousled effect. In the inner corner, I use a highlighter.
I then shade the red shade, pulling out the corner. It is evident from the photo that I am no good at medium-red mascara, but I hope not to see it from afar.
I drew a dark green arrow, and the lower eyelid is painted with a green pencil.
On the upper lashes – black mascara. Green on the lower lashes.
I apply Sleek Royal Gold glitter highlighter on the cheekbones, nose, chin and under the eyebrow.
On my lips, I apply Kiko lipstick, scarlet with gold particles.
I highlight my cheekbones with a MAC blush and put a little of the same red eye shadow on my cheeks to use on my eyes, but just a little, so it would not be a matryoshka.
The whole look, what do you think of my herringbone earrings?
My makeup is complete. I didn’t have a name for it, and the only idea was “New Year Tree Makeup” 😂.
Suggest your names!

Off the tongue! Great makeup!
Thank you!
Christmas tree, burn! I like it, it’s very bold but harmonious 😊 The earrings are a delight 🎄 I’m going to put on my New Year’s playlist.
Yay, it’s New Year’s Eve!
Wow, what a beautiful makeup look! It’s really very New Year-y!
I have an idea for the name – “The Grinch, the Christmas Snatcher” (I hope you have a good sense of humor) The makeup is very bold and original, there are no more Christmas colors.
P.S. I really like your makeup, it’s always unconventional.
Yeah! That’s great!
Not enough green lips though.
Thank you!
How beautiful, bright, juicy everything turned out, really a Christmas tree in all its glory.
Thank you so much!
Very unusual, bold, but really New Year’s! And it suits you very well!
Thank you!
I love the combination of red and green shades) I often experiment like this myself)
Complementary colors (opposite colors) are supposed to create a great harmony, but in makeup it’s kind of unusual)
What a beautiful and totally original makeover! The idea wow!
I want a slick palette like this too, I’ve been eyeing it for a long time!
Thank you! The palette is good, but the bronzer didn’t work for me at all(
It’s beautiful, Julia. Bright and unusual, festive, like a shiny Christmas tree. I liked the earrings too, is it handmade?
Thank you!
The earrings are simple, from some mass-market store, I don’t remember where they came from.
Very beautiful!
I think it turned out really cool. I was wondering if someone would risk doing a green and red makeup, it’s just the colors of the New Year’s Eve.
I took a risk) Thanks for stopping by!
Yulia, great brave makeup! New Year’s Eve
I was reminded of a commercial song from a few years ago: “The Holiday is Coming To Us”.
Bold makeup; it’s great that it is not in the standard (expected) winter shades, just some fireworks ))
So that was a reference to the commercial, I think almost everyone knows it)
Thanks for reading!
Yulia, you are like a young and beautiful Santa’s helper))) Very creative and cute, I enjoyed the post
I’m glad! Thank you so much!
Unusual, it suits you very well.
Earrings – fire, especially since I have the same.
Thank you!
Cool! My friends make fun of me because of these earrings, they can’t forget them.
And strangers come up to me at work and ask to see closer
How cute)
The earrings are best😍
A real New Year’s fair! I liked it very much; very unconventional, and it’s an art to blend green and red in the makeup)
Oh, thank you so much; that’s insanely sweet!
In the photo, a yellow glare light is reflected in the eye – it looks like part of the makeup;)
Very beautiful, suits you – bright, unconventional!
And you are attentive!
Thank you!
You have the most New Year’s and festive (in the classic sense) makeup!
Modern and stylish.
Thank you so much for the compliments
Yulia, it turned out great! And complex shades for the eye makeup, but you succeeded!
Thanks!
Definitely, if this were a contest, I would have given you first place! Excellent idea and execution!
You made me so embarrassed, thank you very much!
I’m not a bit creative with names, but I think “Santa’s Little Helper” would be nice, huh? At least, that’s how I see it. And the earrings are fantastic.
Yulia, you are such a generator of ideas, it’s incredible! How cool you made green and red with gold.
Great title!
Thank you!
I don’t know if I can; if they take away my stars, I won’t be upset)
I’ll tell you a secret, I have another post and I think I’ll post it too.
Wow, I can see the new year and Christmas)), you hit the mark)
Hurray!
Wow, universal makeup turned out, not only Christmas but even, I think, a passionate Brazilian carnival! Beautiful!
That’s a good point, I also had associations with Rio.)
Beautiful New Year combinations!) Very smartly made!)
Wow! How unusual and cool it turned out! Well done!
I also immediately thought about poinsettias (I was looking for artificial ones to decorate the Christmas tree)! Magically beautiful and masterful, Yulia made a blooming between flowers – WOW)))) Unusual and extraordinary makeup!
Ahhhh, that’s great! I wouldn’t have had the imagination for something like that).
Usually, winter makeup is associated with white/blue/blue/purple, but here…
Me too, but I saw these earrings and thought I should go above and beyond).
Thanks for stopping by!
That’s great! It’s a good idea to base it not on a winter landscape but on a winter holiday. Red+dark green+gold is the most New Year’s Eve combo I’ve ever seen 🙂
The very, very Christmas colors!
I love it!
I will make myself something similar)
I’ve thought about it but never got around to doing it.
Your post convinced me that red and green on the eyes together could look modern and stylish without reference to the disco era.
I was surprised myself that it didn’t come out ’90s style.
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!
Stylish, extraordinary, spectacular, memorable! And how unreal suits you, a stunner!
