Hello everyone, This magical tube caught my eye a long time ago, but to be honest, I didn’t need this kind of gloss. However, I was afraid the Jeffree Star Cosmetics brand would be hard to buy later, so I picked The Gloss in the Sickening shade from stock. The gloss is undeniably beautiful on the outside, but we’ll find out what’s inside in my review.
Brand: Jeffree Star Cosmetics.
Type: The Gloss.
Shade: Sickening.
Packaging: this is a 100 out of 100! Once you pick up a tube by Jeffree Star Cosmetics The Gloss, it’s hard to let it go, much less not to buy it. The inner five-year-old wakes up and squeals happily, “Magic wand, how great, I want it, I want it, I want it!”. My inner child is super strong, so I had no strength to resist 🙂
The packaging looks like both a magic wand and a princess tower in the style of the cartoon “Star vs. the forces of evil” and something alien. The first thing that catches your eye is the glitter lid. It is made of shiny purple plastic, hyper-voluminous, with a fluted middle and a spade on top, and the bottom of the lid is engraved with a purple star – the symbol of the brand.
The tube has thick walls made of thick transparent plastic, through which the shining mass of glitter is evident. It has only one “The Gloss” inscription in mirror paint and no distracting information besides a purple sticker on the bottom. The packaging is a pure delight to me, especially because its design matches the lavender shade of the product itself, which I chose.
Quality is unquestionable, the plastic is sturdy, strong, and “expensive” in hand, the limiter is good, and you can safely carry the gloss. The Gloss was sold in a purple cardboard package with tamper-proof. The protection was only on one side, but it was impossible to get the gloss out of the other end because of the stopper holder inside the box.
The applicator: a long elongated sponge, quite wide and comfortable. The frizzes are soft and gentle, and the applicator is not hard, which is suitable for the product’s texture. I liked to apply the gloss with it.
Scent: vanilla-chemical, weak, long weathered from the lips. The gloss has a rather pleasant sweetish-vanilla flavor. In the description of the product, it is written that it has the taste and smell of vanilla crème brûlée. I agree with the taste, but the smell of anything but ice cream.
Ease of application: the gloss is easy to apply. The applicator captures the perfect amount, just on all the lips. The tip is good to distribute the product on the contour, and the flat part of the spatula quickly covers the rest of the lips. Since the shade is translucent, it does not plump; it lays down evenly. Thanks to the successful texture, the gloss does not get into creases and does not roll and drip off the lips; I think it self-levels.
The consistency: dense, not greasy; one can feel the abundance of silicones. On the lips, it feels all the time, I did not like the texture in the summer, but I like it better in the fall. This gloss is too heavy, dull, thick greasy film. Such behavior is not expected from modern cosmetics. In summer, I felt stuffy with it.
Stickiness: the description of the gloss says that it has 0% stickiness. And that is purely untrue; The Gloss is very sticky.
Shade: I missed the shade because I didn’t expect this translucent but bright lilac to bleach my lips. The gloss is stunning, in the tube it is lilac and lavender with a scattering of small glitters, purple, lilac, gold, orange, pink. When applied to the lips, the glitter is readable, and the color transforms into a transparent cool milky gray that casts a light gold under certain lighting. The gray note is very readable, and the lavender shade of gloss makes the lips look like a “bride’s corpse.” I know so many people who love this effect, but it doesn’t suit me. On the plus side, the gloss does make my lips look a little plumper, so I wear it over pencil or lipstick.
Density/transparency: Translucent gives a light lavender hue and noticeable whitening.
Shimmer/glitter/pearl: magical shimmers of all the glitter in the world. I see bright purples and pinks, golds and oranges, lilacs, and reddish salmon. There are a lot of shimmers in the tube, it feels like the glitter is made entirely of glitter, and great sparks are left on the lips.
Degree of gloss: high. No glassy coverage, but because of the thick texture, the gloss gives quite a tangible gloss in which the shimmer of the glitter is unparalleled.
It is semi-transparent, does not show signs of flaking, and covers dry patches and crusts well. It does not go into relief and smoothes the texture of the lips well. It has mediocre care, not moisturizing but not drying.
Do I need a foundation, a pencil: no, I don’t need a foundation under the gloss. But I like to wear a gloss over a pencil, tint, or lipstick. That way, I get the brightness I need on my lips and a nice glossy finish.
What skin condition requires: For almost any condition, bright glosses do not accentuate redness and imperfections, I think such a lilac even mutes all the colors on the face. The gloss erases the lips from the face, so without blush and mascara, there is a chance to turn into a pale ghost.
Its resistance: is not high, on dry lips, the gloss gradually loses its luster in an hour, in three hours, it is almost completely gone, and only glitter remains. It can be removed with micellar water and may leave a small part of the shimmer on the lips.
It’s not bad, but… if it weren’t for the packaging, I would have thrown the gloss away. It holds its contour well and doesn’t run off the mucosa or roll off into a white streak, but it feels pretty strong on the lips and I don’t wear it solo (my fault with the shade choice). It lays perfectly on top of drying lipsticks, though, compensating for their dryness with its oily coverage. The packaging, on the other hand, proved to be good, it is not scratched and still pleases me with its magical appearance, the limiter is good, and it is not soiled. However, for some reason, the white stick on which the applicator is located has turned yellow.

I thought it was a Sailor Moon collab; what a cutie, the lilac one gives a plumper effect. And I won’t stop writing, any lip product doesn’t suit you.
Thanks 🥰 The packaging is incredible… I didn’t need the lilac gloss, but I need it! I wanted to get the gray one from this series, but it was sold out, so I got the most beautiful tube 😅
And yes, it makes me say, “Moon Prism, give me strength”))
I love Jeffrey glosses) I have 4 of them.)
When I wrote about the whitening effect, I immediately thought of you.)) You love that 😄 Do you have a gray shade?
No, there’s no such thing either)
I have a gestalt in gray 😅
I thought about getting some of the Crimewatch series, but they never brought it in. Also, eh, these glosses used to cost 1100. It’s a penny for this quality and mix.
Oooh, I immediately thought of Sailor Moon too! ( oh, those 90’s kids)
Yes, and the glitter is beautiful, I wonder what other shades there are
There are a lot of shades, but not all of them are there. I also liked the mix of green and brown.) Very beautiful, I almost didn’t take it)
What an awesome ah! The color is fantastic 😍
On why your lips are so perfect😁😁😁😁
Oh, you embarrassed me, thanks 😇
What an excellent glitter!
Thank you)))
Beautiful shade 😍 and Jeffrey’s packaging, of course, is always excellent))
Lera, that’s not the word))) There’s a package that hits the heart 😄
I love the design of Jeffree Star products)
Not a trivial shade, but it is interesting🙂
It’s beautiful… It’s light and cold, but it’s gorgeous.)
Oh, the sponge reminded me of Pat)) Anyway, the gloss, too))
Would look controversial on my pale lips; even the lilac lipstick I’ve heard about looks frozen, and here perfect even on macro, by the way)
Thank you))) I also look corpulent with it if I don’t have blush 😅
